NEMA ENCLOSURE CLASSIFICATION
The NEMA Enclosure Classification was basically created as a guide for those that manufacture and sell enclosures as a product that others mount their apparatus, components, or equipment in. NEMA terminology is sometimes asked about in the field regarding valve housings.

We off the following as a suggested quide regarding our product line.

Peter Paul enclosures C, G, S, AD, AS, and Q with non-molded coils provide a NEMA 1 function (General Purpose-Indoors). Where enclosures C, G, S, AD, AS, and Q have molded coils they provide the following NEMA functions:
NEMA 1 (General Purpose - Indoors)
NEMA 2 (Dripproof - Indoors)
NEMA 3 (Driptight - Outdoors)



Solenoid enclosure* EP with molded coil provide the following NEMA functions:
NEMA 7C & 7D & U.L. Class I - Groups C & D - Explosion Proof
NEMA 8C & 8D & U.L. CLASS I - Groups C & D - Explosion Proof
NEMA 9E, 9F, & 9G & U.L. Class II - Groups,E,F, & G - Explosion Proof

Solenoid enclosures** P&J provide the following NEMA functions:
NEMA 3 R (Rainproof & Sleet - (Ice) Resistant - Outdoors)
NEMA 3 S (Dusttight, Raintight & Sleet (Ice) Proof - Outdoors)
